ONE of India’s biggest seed processing companies, PRASAD Seeds, says it is ready to set up a multi-million dollar processing facility in Zambia.

Prasad Seeds Managing Director KARUMANCHI PRASAD says the project is meant to cater for Zambia’s needs and that of its 8 neighbouring countries and beyond.

Mr. PRASAD says Zambia has political stability and a strong legal framework that helps protect investments.

This came to light when Zambia’s High Commissioner to India JUDITH KAPIJIMPANGA toured the seed processing plant in TELANGANA State, South India.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to India JUDITH KAPIJIMPANGA says the mission is happy with Prasad for its interest in Zambia.

She says PRASAD Company took interest in investing in Zambia a long time ago as it bid for the takeover of KAWAMBWA Tea Company in the past but the bid was not successful.

Mrs. KAPIJIMPANGA also says Zambia stands to benefit from PRASAD Seeds Company because it has facilities for adding value to fruits and vegetables through the cold storage.

The High Commissioner says she is happy to note that the company also provides seeds to small scale farmers who are mostly women and buys off the crop for seed production through it’s out grower scheme.

This is contained in a Press statement issued by First Secretary for Press and Tourism at the Zambian High Commission in India BANGWE NAVILEY
