Residents of Mtendere Compound are elated with the street lighting project that has commenced along the Mtendere main bus station road.
The residents talked to by Komboni radio news have observed that once installed, the street lights will help enhance security in that area.
The residents have hoped that the street lighting project will be extended to other roads in that area in order to safeguard the lives of residents especially at night.
A check by the news crew in that area found a number of streetlights along the Mtendere Main road already installed.
Meanwhile, the residents have continued to complain about the infamous gang called the fluffy boys who are terrorizing residents in the community.
One of the residents who declined to be named urged parents with children involved in gangs not to shield them but instead report them to relevant authorities so that they can be helped to reform and become better citizens.
And the residents have repeated calls for the reopening of the police post before more lives are lost saying lack of police presence has contributed to the rise in criminal activities.
