Chieftainship wrangles have resurfaced over the appointment of new senior chief Tafuna of the Lungu speaking people of Mpulungu district.
Speaking as Chairperson for the House of Chiefs in Northern Province, Chief Chitoshi says traditional leaders in the Lungu chiefdom have appointed Mathews Kakungu as senior chief Tafuna.
However, the move has been rejected by the Lungu Royal Establishment through its chairperson, Chief Chinakila.
Chief Chitoshi says that the appointment of Mr Kakungu was arrived during the just ended two days consultative meeting with the House of Chiefs Committee held in Kasama.
The throne of Senior Chief Tafuna fell vacant on 2nd June 2016, following the murder of Chief Benson Mukupa Kaoma who was scheduled to ascend to the seat.
But when reached for comment, Lungu Royal Establishment chairperson, Chief Chinakila says as far as the establishment is concerned it has not yet appointed anyone to the throne of Senior Chief Tafuna.
His royal highness has since warned that the Lungu Royal Establishment will take legal action against the matte
Raphael Chipampe and seven others who murdered Senior Chief Tafuna together with Riboss Kafunda has since been sentenced to death by hanging, by the Kasama High Court.
