FAILURE TO CURB ILLEGAL TAXIS DISAPPOINTS UNION

Zambia Bus and Taxi Workers Union is disappointed with the seemingly failure by the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) to curb pirate taxis in Lusaka.

Union President James Liambai has noted with concern that pirate taxis have continued to subject the registered taxi operators to unfair business practices.

Mr. Liambai tells Komboni Radio News that government is also losing out on revenue as the pirate taxis also evade tax.

He added that pirate taxi operators have also significantly contributed to casual labor in the public transport sector.

Mr. Liambai has since appealed to RTSA and Zambia Police Traffic Police Unit to begin impounding all unregistered taxis as required by the law.
