TRANSPORTERS IN KASAMA PROTEST OVER DELAYS TO PAY THEM BY THE FOOD RESERVE AGENCY

BY CORRESPODENT
Irate transporters contracted to haulage the food reserve agency-FRA maize in Northern Province yesterday stormed the agencies’ regional office demanding to be paid their monies.
They lamented in an interview that it is unfortunate that government has failed to honour its promise.
The transporters stressed that they have run out patience saying over four years has since passed but all in vain.
They have since appealed to government to consider releasing funds for transporters in Northern Province.
And Kasama Central Member of Parliament, Kelvin Sampa has apologized to transporters who were contracted to haulage the Food Reserve Agency-FRA maize for the delay to receive their monies.

Mr. Sampa said he is aware that the transporters have not yet been paid their dues contrary to their assertions that he has been quite on the matter.
The law maker added that he has been making follow-ups with the Ministry of Agriculture as regards to their payments.
Mr. Sampa has since asked for forgiveness from transporters for governments delay to pay them their dues.
He further appealed for patience among transporters saying government has assured them that they will be paid before the distribution of farming inputs for the 2017 /2018 season.
