FUNDS RELEASED FOR INSTALLATION OF WATER RETICULATION SYSTEM AT CHIENGE HOSPITAL

Government has released Four Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand Kwacha for the installation of a water reticulation system at Chienge District Hospital in Luapula Province.

Hospital Administrator, Stephen Mushinge Katota has told ZANIS in an interview that Government has awarded the contract to carry out the works to Edol Construction Company.

Mr Katota said the Company is already on-site and has already started laying the pipes to connect all the Hospital departments, the Administration Block and the houses in the Hospital Compound.

He said works are expected to be complete by April this year, adding that works could have been completed earlier but they are being hampered by heavy rains that are being experienced in Chienge District.

And Chienge residents have praised Government for solving the water problem which the Medical facility has been facing since it opened in 2014.

One of the patients at the Hospital, Rhodah Mwape said the installation of a water reticulation system will ease the suffering patients and care givers go through in search of water.

Ms Mwape said the move will benefit expectant mothers at the Maternity Ward, and will make surgical operations much easier.

She said residents are elated by the fact that the practice of care givers carrying buckets of water from home to the hospital for patients to bath will soon come to an end.
