Retirees in Northern Province whose retirement packages have not yet been settled have complained about government’s failure to pay them.
Some irate retirees have lamented that they have now become destitute as they are facing challenges in sustaining their families a situation they have described as sad.
They stressed that a number of their colleagues have since died without enjoying their retirement benefits.
They have since called on government to expedite the payment process of their packages.
But Provincial Permanent Secretary, Elias Kamanga says government is aware of the many challenges retirees are going through.
Mr. Kamanga has since called for patience from retirees as government is doing everything possible in ensuring that their dues are settled.
