20 FAMILIES IN KEEMBE HAVE BEEN LEFT IN THE COLD AFTER THEIR HOUSES COLLAPSED DUE TO HEAVY RAINS

BY SYLVESTER KAUMBA
Over 20 houses have collapsed in Keembe constituency of Chibombo district in central province.
Keembe ward councilor Lawrence Likola says currently families are spending nights in the cold as there is no temporal shelter set up for the victims.
Councilor Likola who is UPND Keembe ward councilor lamented that no support has been received to date despite having informed the disaster Management and Mitigation Unit-DMMU.
Meanwhile Chibombo district council chairperson James Ntalasha has also echoed similar sentiments saying there is always late or no response by the DMMU whenever the district is hit by such calamities.
Mr. Ntalasha has since called on the DMMU to quickly intervene and provide tents to the affected families as they are currently sleeping in open places a situation he has described as inhuman.
