MUTANDA BANTU TRADERS BEMOAN EXORBITANT CHARGES

Traders at Kanyama’s Mutanda Bantu Market have complained of what they termed as exorbitant fees   being charged at Kabuma Market were they are yet to be relocated to pave way for the construction of Mutanda Bantu road.

The traders have told a Komboni Radio news crew that visited the area that a committee that has been put in place is asking traders to pay about 30 kwacha in order to secure space at Kabuma Market.

Some of the traders further claimed that fees being charged at Kabuma Market have since been increased from 30 Kwacha to 200 kwacha following the high demand of trading space.

They added that Kabuma Market is already full and cannot accommodate all the traders from Mutanda Bantu adding that business is also slow to enable them meet daily market levy fees which are pegged at 5 kwacha.

The traders at Mutanda Bantu Market have been given today as the last day to operate there to pave way for road construction works.

Some traders have since welcomed the roads works saying this will give a facelift to that area.
