A 32 year old man of Lusaka’s Misisi compound has committed suicide by throwing himself in the infamous Ngwenya dam due to alleged failure to raise K580.

The deceased who has been identified as Given Tembo is reported to have thrown himself into the Ngwenya dam on Monday afternoon and his body was retrieved yesterday around 17 hours by members of the public.

Wife to the deceased Stella Nkonde narrated to a Komboni Radio News crew that visited the funeral house in Misisi compound that her husband has been complaining lately that he had a lot of problems and it would be better for him to die.

Mrs. Nkonde also disclosed that her now late husband was also complaining that his siblings were not giving him respect as a first born in the family.

She narrated that the deceased on Sunday complained to her that he was having challenges to raise K580 to pay the council for land rates as all his siblings were allegedly not helping him.

Ms. Nkonde said she was only told by her neighbours that her husband had thrown himself into the Ngwenya dam.

And one of the eye witnesses narrated that the body was retrieved yesterday by members of the public around 17 hours.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited in the University

Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary.  The deceased is survived by a wife and three children.
