KAMWALA SOUTH YOUTHS PETITION TC NOT TO REGISTER COMMUNITY LAND IN THE INDIVIDUAL NAME OF KABWATA MP

BY SYLVESTER KAUMBA

Youths in Kamwala South have petitioned Lusaka City Council Town Clerk Alex Mwansa not to register Plot No. 14726/917 in the individual name of Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda.

According to the petition letter obtained by Komboni Radio News which has also been copied to the Local Government Minister and the Lusaka Mayor, the youths are demanding that Honorable Lubinda should not be allowed to register the said piece of land in his name as the land in question is meant for a community play park.

And speaking on behalf of the youths and other concerned residents of Kamwala south; Morgan Mwape has since urged the council not to register the said piece of land in the name of Given Lubinda Foundation but that it should be given back to the community.

He warned that if the council fails to secure the said land for the community, then youths will have no other choice but to share their concern with the head of state and the Anti-Corruption Commission for the alleged abuse of authority by the Kabwata Parliamentarian.

And Republican Progress Party Vice President Leslie Chikuse says his party is deeply concerned that Honorable Lubinda wants to register a community land in his individual name.

Mr Chikuse says decentralization is a very important component for development which has also been highlighted in the PF Manifesto but was quick to state that it will be difficult to achieve this if communal areas well planned for the community by the council are being hijacked by members of parliaments and other government officials using their offices.

The RPP Vice President who is also a resident of Kamwala South has since urged Mr Lubinda not to register the land in question in his Foundation name if he means well for the community.

And Mr Chikuse has charged that the lack of community play parks has contributed to the moral decay in society as young people have resorted to engage in bad vices.

He says it is unfortunate that even the few remaining community play parks are being hijacked by individuals at the expense of the community.
