KABWE RESIDENT CALLS FOR PROTECTION OF JOURNALISTS

A concerned resident of Kalwelwe in Kabwe rural has condemned the harassment of Journalists by political party cadres.

Mr Nicholas Kapila has noted with concern that Journalists in the country both from the public and private media have continued to be harassed by supporters of political parties on account that their media house favours certain political parties.

Mr Kapila has since called on the police high command to ensure that Journalists are protected from unruly cadres and arrest those who physically attack or harass journalists and prevent them from doing their work.

He stated that if political parties are not happy with the conduct of some media houses, they should direct such complaints to the right stakeholders and not harass reporters.

Yesterday Zambia joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Press Freedom Day which was being celebrated under the theme; Keeping Power in Check, Media Justice and Rule of Law.
