TRADITIONAL LEADER BEMOAN INCREASE IN GBV CASES

A traditional leader in Chinkanta village in Kalomo district of Southern Province has bemoaned the increase in Gender Based Violence and cases of child abuse in the chiefdom.

And senior headman Josiah Muzhamba says the traditional leadership will soon call for a stakeholders meeting to address these challenges.

Speaking in an interview with Komboni Radio News, Mr Muzhamba who is also Chinkanta Development Trust Chairman says the traditional leadership has noted with great concern over the escalating levels of GBV and child abuse cases.

Meanwhile, the traditional leader has also bemoaned the poor sanitary conditions in rural areas.

He said over 50 percent of people in the rural communities are still using the bush to answer the call of nature.

Mr Muzhamba however stressed that the traditional leadership is committed to ensuring that by 2017, every household has a toilet.
