FDD CONDEMNS CALLS ON DONORS TO WITHDRAW AID TO ZAMBIA

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD)has described as irresponsible calls by some politicians on donors to withdraw funding to Zambia due to the continued incarceration of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.

Speaking in an interview, FDD Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza says there is need for people to understand that donor aid is meant for the poor Zambians and not the PF government.

He charged that such calls are therefore irresponsible and misplaced as it will be the poor Zambians who will suffer if donors withdrew their support to Zambia.

Mr Mwanza has since urged leaders to avoid making careless statement that can hurt the country.

Recently, three opposition leaders who include Nevers Mumba, Mike Mulongoti and Charles Milupi called on the donor community to withdraw their support to Zambia after the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema who is facing treason charge was transferred to Mukobeko Maximum Prison.
