The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) has embarked on a programme of distributing beds to mini hospitals to help decongest the country’s biggest health facility.

Speaking in an interview with Komboni radio news acting public relations officer Natalie Mashikolo said UTH management is committed to ensuring that the trend of having improvised floor beds is reversed in order to promote quality health care provision.
Ms. Mashikolo added that it has been difficult for medical personnel to attend and administer medication to patients that would sleep on the floor.
She added that UTH has also transferred some medical to the recently up-graded mini-hospitals adding that UTH Will be dealing with serious referral medical cases.
Meanwhile residents talked to have welcomed the move of removing floors beds saying doing so will help provide a conducive environment for patients to recover.
