CHIPATA COMPOUND RESIDENTS BEMOAN AIR POLLUTION

BY KALALUKA MUSHAUKWA

Residents of Lusaka’s Chipata compound have complained of the air pollution coming from the incinerator at the local health centre.

In an interview with Komboni radio news, the residents complained that the continued burning of foetuses at the mortuary has polluted the air and residents have since contracted diseases such as endless coughs among others.

The residents have since appealed to the authorities to regulate burning at the local mortuary as this is having a negative effect on residents especially children.

And when contacted, Raphael Chota Ward 22 councilor Joseph Tamba has urged the affected residents to sale their houses to government so that they can relocate to an area where they will not be affected by the air pollution coming from the incinerator at Chipata Level One Hospital.
