Minister of health Dr. Elijah Muchima has urged young people in the country to use their energy, creativity and innovation for national development.

Speaking when he delivered a Keynote address at the 2025 Youth Day commemoration in Solwezi yesterday, Dr. Muchima highlighted the importance of youths as the present and future of Zambia.

He stressed the Government’s commitment, under President Hakainde Hichilema, to listening to youth concerns and supporting their participation in governance.

The Minister also addressed the challenge of alcohol and substance abuse, noting Government efforts that have sensitized nearly 4 million citizens through partnerships with traditional leaders, churches, and civil society.

He encouraged young people to utilize Government programs aimed at empowerment, including vocational training, mentorship schemes, and entrepreneurship incubators.

Dr. Muchima also emphasized the importance of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in solving community challenges and urged youths to hold leaders accountable for delivering on promises.

The event was held under the theme, “Voices Amplified and Innovations Ignited,” highlighting the critical role of young people in shaping Zambia’s future.
