OMCA Disappointed with Remarks Made By PTAZ Amidst Erratic Fuel Supply

Oil Marketing Companies Association (OMCAs) President, Dr. Kafula Mubanga, has expressed disappointment with the recent accusations made by the Petroleum Transporters Association of Zambia.

The association had accused OMCs of being responsible for the erratic fuel supply in the country, alleging that their loyalty lies with foreign transporters rather than the nation.

And commenting on the mater, Dr. Mubanga, called on the Petroleum Transporters Association, to adopt a more logical and factual approach in their statements.

Dr. Mubanga, told the media, that OMCs have always supported the 50-percent policy, which stipulates that half of the petroleum products entering the country should be transported by local transporters, to strike a balance between local and international transporters.

He further explained that the real challenge lies in the inadequate capacity of local transporters to handle the transportation of petroleum products which is a concern.

Dr. Mubanga, also urged the Petroleum Transporters Association to focus their advocacy efforts on pushing for the enactment of the 50-percent policy into law as a significant portion of the business will remains in the hands of local players, thereby strengthening the economy.
