Construccion of Water Scheme Commences In Mulenga Compound

Construction of a comprehensive water scheme has commenced at Mulenga Combined School in Mulenga Compound, Kitwe, as part of efforts to combat waterborne diseases among school children and the surrounding community.

Ndeke Ward Councilor Davies Kasengele says the project, funded by Save the Children Zambia under the “Opportunity to Improve Access to Safe Water” initiative, includes a 10,000-liter water tank, two community water kiosks, and two hand wash facilities for pupils and staff.

Other features include solar-powered water ponds, a solar submersible pump, and solar panels to ensure sustainable water supply.

Councilor Kasengele says the project is expected to be completed by the end of January.
