The Luanshya District Chamber of Commerce and Industry has addressed concerns over the recent petrol price hike announced by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), emphasizing that its impact on the prices of goods and services is expected to be minimal.
Chamber President Ernestle Zimba explained that the effects of the petrol price adjustment are likely to be negligible because industries and key sectors predominantly rely on diesel, which has not seen a significant increase.
He noted that diesel is the primary fuel used in industrial operations, agriculture, and transportation logistics, making it the more critical determinant of overall economic shifts, further expressing skepticism about the possibility of operators raising fares for public transport.
