Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga, has disclosed that government has done away with the importation of fertilizer, as it will be locally produced.

Mr. Mulenga, said the production plant is already operational adding that by January next year, the country will no longer be importing D-Compound.

He said the local production of fertilizer is meant to address the delay in distribution which was caused by delay in transportation.

Mr. Mulenga, said of late, farmers used to complain that crops have grown knee high without fertilizer, a situation he said is long gone.

He said the country will only be food secure by producing fertilizer locally, a move which will not only see timely distribution of the commodity but a growth in GDP.
