Residents of Nkana West residential area in Kitwe district are fuming over blockages in the sewer system, which have caused backups in Boma Street.

The contractor working on Chibuluma Road is accused of blocking the sewer lines, prompting widespread outrage due to the ongoing works.

However according to Romas Kamanga, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, the concerns are being actively addressed.

Mr Kamanga further explained that laterite from the road project has been entering the manholes, causing the blockages.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Komboni News, Rokana ward Councilor Macmillan Mbao wondered why the water utility mostly delays working on concerns once reported.
