Kitwe Mayor Mpasa Mwaya has called for increased staffing in the engineering and planning departments to improve the execution of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects.
Ms. Mwaya explained that Kitwe, with its five constituencies, has faced challenges in delivering CDF projects on time due to inadequate staffing.
She urged the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development’s Permanent Secretary, Maambo Hamaundu, to consider establishing a dedicated CDF department within the council to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
In response, Permanent Secretary Maambo Hamaundu said there is need to assess whether Kitwe City Council engineering and planning departments require additional staff or if the current staff are being underutilized.
