Florence Michelo, a resident of Kansenshi in Ndola and a beneficiary of the cash for work program has appealed to the relevant authorities to provide the laborers with PPE as the work poses a danger on their health as equipment such as facemasks and safety boots have not been provided.

Another laborer told Komboni News during a random tour of projects in Ndola by Ministry of Local Government permanent secretary Trevor Hamaundu that there is need for them to be provided with breaks in between the work schedule, citing that they are not allowed to break for 8 straight hours.

And speaking at the site, Local Government permanent secretary Trevor Hamaundu stated that the matter will be attended to, while advising the laborers not to pay anyone money from the payments as a bribe for them being on the program.
