Government has approved the disbursement of K4,200,000 towards the procurement of 2,800 school desks for Kanyama Constituency.

Lusaka City Council Assistant Public Relations Manager Nyambe Bulumba, says this funding secured under the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation, will benefit four wards namely Chinika Ward 11, Munkolo Ward 15, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Ward 12 and Kanyama Ward 13.

He says from the 2,800 desks to be procured, Chinika Ward 11 has been allocated 1,125 desks, Munkolo Ward 15 will receive 638 desks, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Ward 12 will get 626 desks and Kanyama Ward 13 will benefit with 411 desks.

The procurement of these desks will help alleviate the long-standing shortage faced by government schools in the Constituency.

Mr. Bulumba explains that this initiative also aims to fulfil the presidential directive of ensuring that no child sits on the floor while attending lessons.
