Twapia Youths Benefit from Cash-For-Work Program

Twapia Ward Councillor Henry Kabwebwe has stated that the cash-for-work program has been of great help to the youths in his Ward who have not been doing any activity to earn a living.

He said this when a team from the Ndola City Council and the Director of Information in the Ministry of Information and Media Henry Kapata toured the Ward during an inspection of projects.

And speaking on site, Director of Information in the Ministry of information and Media Henry Kapata urged the residents of the area to avoid indiscriminately disposing of waste to avoid having blocked drainages which have now been unblocked and cleaned.

Mr Kapata Had this to say:

Cash for work is a reality, we have seen it, but I think the major concern is that indiscriminate disposal waste. So, we want to believe that the people that are responsible for this is us who are here because we do not subscribe to solid waste management. Then we are the same culprits that are using Wilbur Pushers to indiscriminate dispose ways in the draining system. And again, the busses that are using here are equally maybe doing the same. So, we should do a lot with regards to surrounding communities to sensitize them on the issue of being discriminated disposable, perhaps even to look for their receipts. We have paid for garbage collection. If they do not have those receipts for garbage collection, then they are in a culprits.

And some of the beneficiaries of the cash-for-work appreciated government for the initiative, the youths expressed gratitude towards the program stating that it is helping them with raising capital to start small businesses to help them survive, the youths have appealed to government to continue with the program.
