Mutundu Ward Councillor, Tsindikai Mudemba, has expressed frustration over the delay in establishing three markets in his ward, as resolved by the council in 2022.
The proposed markets are to be located at Cornerbar, 14 Miles, and 17 Miles.
Speaking to Komboni news, Mr. Mudemba lamented the inordinate delay in implementing the resolution, noting that similar projects in other wards, such as urban Town, have been completed more quickly.
He attributed the delay to neglect, citing the ward’s geographical challenges and distance from the central town.
Mr. Mudemba stated that after sustained pressure, the council recently visited the proposed sites at 17 Miles and 14 Miles. He is now awaiting the council’s action to establish the third market at Cornerbar.
Mr. Mudemba emphasized the need for modern, state-of-the-art markets in these areas, given Mutundu Ward’s central role in Mufulira’s integrated development plan and the upcoming Mufulira-Ndola Road.
