Ministry of Health, promotions officer Officer, Kakoma Samdata, says the ministry has partnered with lifeline child line Zambia for the defaulter tracing program aimed at vaccinating over 26,000 zero-dose children and 35,000 defaulters who are below five years by the end of the year in all the constituencies of Lusaka district.
Speaking to Komboni Radio Mr. Kakoma say the vaccination campaign aims to reach thousands of children who have missed or never received the vaccine.
He says the move will reduce the number of under immunized and zero dose children.
Mr Samdata adds that over 2,000 children were vaccinated in the month of February he says that the ministry hopes to reach half of the targeted number of children vaccinated before the year ends.
Meanwhile, Lilayi ward councillor Bright Mafuta has welcomed the move.
He says it is important that mother know how to safeguard their children in the communities.
And Gift Kaluba a mother in Chilenje compound has applauded the move saying that most mothers feel lazy to take Their children to the clinic.
She has appealed to her fellow women to take their children to the clinic.
