Agriculture Expert Warns of Impending Food Crisis

Renowned agriculture expert Dr. Oliver Bulaya has sounded the alarm on a potential food crisis in Zambia due to the widespread infestation of fowls affecting crops across the country.

Speaking in an interview with komboni news, Dr. Bulaya emphasized that the situation is dire and requires immediate attention from farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

He has warned that the fowl infestation has reached alarming levels, and if left unchecked, it could lead to significant crop losses and ultimately, a food crisis.

Dr. Bulaya attributed the infestation to a combination of factors, including climate change, poor farming practices, and inadequate pest control measures.

He has since urged farmers to adopt integrated pest management techniques, including the use of resistant crop varieties, biological control methods, and targeted pesticide application.

Meanwhile, the expert also has called on the government to provide support to farmers, including access to credit facilities, inputs, and extension services.
