The Ministry of Education has started training education officers in ten districts in the Copperbelt province in readiness to roll out the 2023 new curriculum.
Speaking in Ndola during the launch of a 3 day orientation programme for education officers, Copperbelt Principal Education Standards Officer Nyambe Sefulo has explained over 20 head teachers and teachers are meeting to be oriented by a combined team from the provincial education office and headquarters on the roll-out of the 2023 new curriculum.
Mr Sefulo has stated that the orientation is being conducted to make sure that all teachers understand the shift from the outcome-based curriculum to the competence-based curriculum.
He has indicated that the value of the competence-based curriculum targets learners who will be equipped with skills at the end of their education system.
Mr Sefulo adds that the desire of the country is to have learners who will be able to be employers and work for themselves and not start looking for white collar jobs after completing their education.
