Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board has started a stakeholders’ engagement across the country aimed at repealing and replacing the Higher Education Act of 2013 which aims to resolve some challenges posed on the awarding of loans and scholarships.

Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board Human Resource and Administration Manager Mrs Chiluba Hamusunse revealed this when a delegation paid a courtesy call on the Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Kasongo.

She further revealed that currently, the team recovering loans is lean and manages to cover about 30% of the awarded loans only.

And Mr. Kasongo, in response nodded to the move by the board adding that the amendments should see to it that no undeserving applicant is awarded a loan especially those who come from wealthy families
