Several houses in Kapwepwe ward 29 of Lusaka’s Matero constituency have collapsed following a heavy downpour.

Area councilor Patrick Salubusa named the affected compounds as paradise compound and Lilanda west among others a situation he described as a disaster.

Mr. Salubusa also disclosed that some families have been forced to salvage their household goods that were totally submerged in water.

The civic leader attributed the flooding to the indiscriminate disposal of garbage which has resulted in several drainages being blocked.

He however commended the Lusaka City council engineering department for the prompt action taken to help address the matter.
