National Association for Smallholder farmers Executive Director Dr. Frank Kayula, has disclosed that the country has not yet recorded any reported cases of crops being destroyed, following the heavy down pour experienced in some parts of the country.
Recently, The Zambia Meteorological Department warned that the country is likely to experience a Tropical Cyclone Chido, which will cause a heavy downpour and storms in some parts of the country.
But speaking in an interview, Dr. Kayula, said as some parts of the country may have experienced heavy rains, there is no report of crops being destroyed so far.
He said despite the warning of cyclone Chido, some parts of the country have not received remains.
He said in Lusaka going south wards, crops have been reported to be drying up due to no rains.
Dr. Kayula, said farmers are advised to take precaution measures even in areas where there is no rain, as safety is paramount.
