Over 500 households in Chawama Compound of NChanga Constituency in Chingola District, have not received piped clean water for over 10 years now.

Despite the area being newly developed and legalized, the residents have been grappling with lack of clean and safe water services, with the only access points bringing copper contaminated water.

The residents have since called on the government to address the matter with the urgency it deserves.

The situation has promoted the area member of Parliament Derrick Chilundika, to task Mulonga Water and Sanitation Company to service the area with clean and safe water.

Mr. Chilundika, who visited the affected community, implored the water utility company to rectify the water challenges in the area before innocent lives are lost
