Kanyama Residents Express Worry of Rise in Early Marriages

Some residents of Kanyama compound in Lusaka have raised concerns over the influx in parents marrying off their children at a tender age.

Moses Mwape tells Komboni radio news that it is disheartening to see female children as young as 13 years old being forced into marriages by their parents a situation he says is worrying.

Another concerned resident Danny Bwalya attributed the trend of indecent dressing among young girls as a contributing factor to some men taking advantage of them.

Others charged that parents should take advantage of the free education policy introduced by government to send their children to school as opposed to marrying them off for personal gains.
