Kitwe District Commissioner, Lawrence Mwanza, has revealed that some workers in the district are on the verge of losing their jobs, due to the continued load shedding that the country is experiencing.

Speaking when the Minister of Labour and Social Security Brenda Tambatamba, paid a courtesy call on him, Mr. Mwanza, said most companies have threatened to lay off workers, adding that so far more than 8 workers have been laid off.

Mr. Mwanza, said it is saddening to note that, most people have started losing their jobs due to electricity challenges

And Mr. Mwanza, reported that there is need for the Ministry of Labour to ensure that, the issue of G & G bakery is sorted, highlighting the health hazards on the production of the bakery.

And Minister of Labour and Social Security, Brenda Tambatamba, said the government has not forgotten the right of workers and will ensure that, their plight is worked on.
