The Lusaka Water supply and sanitation company has bemoaned the continued vandalism of ZESCO cables which it says has significantly disrupted the supply of water.
Company’s Public Relations Manager Ruth Mulenga disclosed that as a result of the disruption of the water supply, the company has recorded a financial loss amounting to K200,000.
Ms. Mulenga highlighted that key water sources that have been affected include Malofarm Boreholes, Avondale Boreholes and Chakunkula Borehole among others
She further disclosed that as a result of the disruptions, water flow from the critical sources has been severely reduced leading to the ongoing supply interruptions.
Ms. Mulenga also indicated that the company has seen an increase in load management hours a situation she says hinders the pumping of water from ground sources resulting in reduced water supply.
She has since disclosed that the company has engaged the power utility company ZESCO to help address the damage and restore normal water supply.
