The Zambia Institute of Architects (ZIA) has warned that it will demolish all illegal structures built without proper consultation.
Speaking in Lusaka, the Institute’s President Musunka Silungwe noted that a number of structures across the country have been built illegally, with some constructed on areas meant for drainage, a situation he says is unfortunate.
Mr. Silungwe disclosed that the institute has also noted with dismay that several unplanned structures are scattered across the country, stressing that the institute will not tolerate them.
He has since announced that the institute will henceforth be present at local Councils countrywide when designs for the construction of buildings are being presented.
Mr. Silungwe further disclosed that the institute will work with Zambia police to ensure that all illegal structures are brought down.
