A 23-year-old man from Kitwe, Patrick Mwewa, was killed by unknown assailants after being attacked on the night of November 12, 2024.

The incident took place around 10:00 PM in Kwacha Township, as reported by the victim’s grandfather, Moses Kabaso, who lives at the same address.

Copperbelt Province Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba stated that Mwewa cried out for help, prompting his grandfather to rush outside. Upon finding his grandson, Mr. Kabaso discovered that Mwewa had sustained a severe head injury and was bleeding profusely.

Commissioner Mweemba mentioned that Mwewa was unable to speak clearly and was immediately taken to Riverside Police Station before being transferred to Kitwe Teaching Hospital, where he later died around 5:00 AM on November 13, 2024.

The police have since launched an investigation, opened a case docket, and are working to gather more information regarding the incident.
