Bus & Taxi Owners Urges Extra Caution Amid Rainy Season Risks

The Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia, represented by spokesperson Amis Daudi, has issued a warning to drivers, particularly those operating public passenger vehicles, to take necessary precautions during the rainy season.

In an interview with Komboni Radio News, Mr. Daudi highlighted that the arrival of the rainy season brings wet road conditions, which pose significant challenges for driving and vehicle control. He noted that these conditions can be particularly hazardous due to the resurfacing of oil on the roads.

Mr. Daudi stressed the importance of exercising extra caution, especially for public service vehicle (PSV) drivers who transport large numbers of passengers. He advised drivers to regularly inspect the condition of their tires, brakes, lights, and windscreen wipers, and to adopt safe driving practices, including planning for longer travel times.

Additionally, Mr. Daudi emphasized the importance of avoiding high beams, as they can blind oncoming drivers. He also urged drivers to remain vigilant for pedestrians and cyclists on the road.
