Chililabombwe Mayor Mr. Lucky Sichone has officially commissioned four skip bins that were procured using the Kakoso Ward Development Fund allocation.
During the handover ceremony, Mr. Sichone emphasized that these waste bins are part of the local authority's efforts to discourage residents from disposing of waste indiscriminately.
Chililabombwe District Commissioner Ms. Precious Njekwa urged the residents of Kakoso to avoid littering in the drainage systems. She stressed that the new waste bins should be used as intended to promote a cleaner and better environment in Chililabombwe.
Additionally, Chililabombwe Town Clerk Mrs. Shilla Songolo explained that 5 percent of locally generated resources are allocated to the Ward Development Fund to support various development projects. She also urged residents not to burn waste inside the bins, as this could damage them.
The chairman of the Kakoso Ward Development Committee expressed gratitude for the procurement of the waste bins, noting that they will help address the issue of indiscriminate waste disposal.
The cost of each skip bin was K53,000, totaling K212,000.
