A cross section of residents in Luanshya district has reacted to the news of an oncoming ethanoic manufacturing plant which is set to be built in Baluba area.
Speaking to Komboni News, Evans Chanda expressed optimism that the company will help revitalize the district's economic landscape, reducing reliance on Luanshya Copper Mine as the primary employer and source of revenue.
Mr Chanda however emphasized that the relevant authority should set a clear stance on the conditions of service, stating that many Chinese investors have a tendency of paying their employees peanuts.
He stressed that general workforce should not be the only employment on offer, adding that Zambia has qualified personnel who are capable to work as site engineers, managers and foremen, unlike the common norm were investors come with their own expertise.
Meanwhile, Darius Mwango encouraged the people of Maposa area to work with the council on the developmental project, urging the local authority to ensure that the Chinese investors create a conducive working environment for the local employers putting into consideration appropriate wages.
