Zambia Police Apprehend 7 Congolese Juveniles in Kasumbalesa for Assault on Local Vendor

Zambia Police through Kasumbalesa Police station in Chililabombwe on 10th October 2024 apprehended 7 Congolese juveniles with the help of members of the public believed to be part of the notorious group of junkies infamously known as the vagabond for the offence of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

In a statement made available to Komboni News, Copperbelt Province Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba reveals that the names of apprehended juveniles are; Abel Kanjibitwa aged 12 years, Enock Julius aged 14 years, Chibwabwa Kabeno aged 14 years, Enock Mukendi aged 14 yrs, Seleman Jino aged 15 years, Fizi Ukunamwamba aged 15 years and Mwamba Kadogo, aged 15 years.

Brief facts of the matter are that on 10th October 2024 around 10:40 hours, Andrew Musonda aged 42 years, a Zambian National of Kasumbalesa township, Banda area of Chililabombwe district was at Minestone market of Kasumbalesa selling his merchandise among them oranges and it so happened that whilst selling, the group of juveniles junkies tried to steal some oranges and in the process of preventing them, the said juveniles descended on him and caused him to sustain a swollen right arm and general body pains as a stick, fists and kicks are alleged to have been used to inflict the injuries.

Mr Mweemba added that as the said Andrew Musonda was being beaten, a Precious Chabu, aged 32 years went to rescue the victim and she ended up being bitten on her right thigh by one of the juveniles.

He noted that members of the public and the quick response of the police led to the apprehension of the suspects and that medical report forms of have since been issued to the two victims and all formalities will be done on the foreign juveniles who have come in conflict with the law.
