The current unblocking of drainages exercise in Lusaka's Mtendere ward 34 has elated the former area civic leader Watson Mtonga.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Komboni radio news Mr. Mtonga explained that Mtendere has in the recent past rainy seasons recorded
significant flash floods as a result of the blocked drainages and indiscriminate disposal of garbage.
Mr. Mtonga highlighted that the floods and uncollected garbage, Mtendere previously recorded a sharp rise in cholera cases stressing that the current clean up exercise could not have come at a better time than this.
The former civic leader further urged his successor channel part of the cash for work funds towards areas that Will prevent possible flooding in Mtendere.

Meanwhile, Mtendere ward 34 area councilor Boniface Chibeka recently announced that his office is channelling part of the cash for work funds towards preventing possible flooding in the area.
