Drilling of Boreholes in Katete District Reaches 50% as Water Crisis Deepens

The drilling of 6 commercial Boleholes within the Water Treatment plant in katete district has advanced to 50%.

Speaking during a telephone interview with Komboni News, Katete District Commissioner Mr Raphael Phiri has confirmed that 3 commercial Boleholes have been drilled out of 6 that was proposed.

The DC disclosed that experts are testing the pumps to determine the sizes that can fit so that they can connect water to the system.

He added that government through the Ministry of Water and sanitation utility company limited in Katete District is doing everything possible for the betterment of clean and safety water to be given to the residents.

Katete District has faced a water challenge after the dried up of the dam that was supplying Water to the district.

Currently, some residents have not received water for three months, a situation that has forced people to look for water as early as 04:00hrs and the district is at risk of having diarrheal diseases if the commodity being consumed is not treated well.
