Ndola District Education Board Secretary Stella Chewe says no child is sitting on the floor as desks have been purchased through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for all schools in the district.
Speaking on the sidelines of the commissioning of a 1 by 3 Classroom block at Chibolele secondary school in Ndola, Ms. Chewe applauded government for ensuring that money was made available through CDF and the desks had been bought.
Ms. Chewe stated that the fulfillment demonstrates a clear commitment to fulfilling the presidential directive that no child should sit on the floor by December 2023.
Meanwhile, Ndola District Commissioner Joseph Phiri has challenged anyone who can come out in the open and show him any child sitting on the floor.
Mr. Phiri adds that President background wanted to alleviate challenges among members of the public which included giving schools what was known as school grants.
Speaking at the same event, Ndola central Constituency Member of Parliament Tayali said that the recruitment of teachers in schools was to ensure that the teacher-pupil ratio is reduced to enable having lesser pupils in a single, urging parents in the constituency not send their children in the streets to labor but send them to school to secure a bright future.
