Chinnese national burns house in Lufwanyama mukenge village

A house in Lufwanyama Mukenge Village in Kambilombilo area has been burnt to ashes by a Chinese national identified as Han Shajun of Zejun Mine also located in Lufwanyama district on the copper belt.

The incident Occurred on August 14, 2024 around 19:00 hours but was only reported on August 17, 2024 at 17 hours at Lufwanyama Police Station due to distance.

Meckson Kikoko aged 53, the Chairman of Kambilombilo Crime Prevention Unit reported on behalf Bowas Mukenge aged 52 that his house has been burnt to ashes and Property in cash amounting to K 50,000 and household goods valued at K 25,000 were burnt by Han Shajun.

Brief facts are that the Chinese National approached Bowas Mukenge to excavate a mineral called quartzes in his farm away from their mine premise. He agreed with them some terms over the deal.

They started mining and on August 14, 2024,they managed to find some good quality stones. During the process, it is alleged that the son to Bowas Mukenge stole one stone and ran away with it.

The act angered the chinese national who started looking for the boy and around 19 hours on the same day, the suspect went to the house of the complainant looking for his son.  When the wife to the complainant who was alone at the farm saw the suspect driving in her village, she feared for her life and ran in the bush to hide.

Copperbelt Police Commanding officer Peacwell Mweemba tells komboni News that the wife observed the suspect burn the house which was made of mud and pole with grass as the roof. She explained that he used a lighter to torch the grass roof and got into his vehicle before driving off.

The matter was reported to the CPU who reported the matter to police. Police later got information that the suspect had been picked by his Chinese friends in an attempt to help him escape but they were cornered within Lufwanyama Boma and the suspect apprehended.
