A 26-year old bus conductor of Mushili compound in Ndola District on the Copperbelt Province has been murdered by his 23-year old friend after a fight erupted over passengers.
Copperbelt Province Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba in a statement made available to Komboni News stated that the deceased identified as Peter Ng'ona while the assailant as Nicola Mwewa.
Facts of the matter are that the deceased and the suspect fought over passengers on 31st August, 2024 where the deceased sustained a swollen forehead and bleeding from the nose, Mr Mweemba further explained that the two were both helped by their fellow bus drivers and conductors to reach Ndola Central Police station where the victim-now-deceased was issued a medical report form to go to the hospital for treatment and the suspect was told to go but that he would be called once the victim returned a signed medical report form.
Mr Mweemba added that the victim went to the hospital where he was treated and he went back to the bus station and continued working till he knocked off in the evening and went home but whilst home the situation worsened such that he started bleeding heavily from the nose which led to him being taken back to the hospital where he died at 21:30 hours.
On the morning of 1st September 2024, the chairman at bus station George Lituna aged 43 of Lubuto heard about the incident and he organised drivers to apprehend the suspect and took him to Ndola Central Police Station where he was detained.
The body of the deceased is laying at Ndola Teaching Hospital awaiting postmortem while a docket of case opened and an arrest has been made.
