Raphael Chota Ward 22 councilor Joseph Tamba has urged young people in Mandevu constituency to take sport seriously as one way to tackle high unemployment levels.
Speaking when he officiated at the finals of the 2016 Chipata compound Christmas tournament yesterday, Tamba said that Sport has grown to be an industry that has contribute to employment creation in the country.
The civic leader also observed that Sport is one way of preventing young people from engaging in criminal activities and other anti-social behaviour.
Meanwhile, Tamba has assured residents in his ward that Zambia National Service-ZNS who have been engaged to work on the Chipata ground will soon move on site.
Tamba reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the football pitch is worked on in order to encourage young people to get involved in Sport.
Simple Kolwe were yesterday crowned as the 2016 Chipata compound Christmas tournament champions after they won 2-1 against Spurs who were the tournament favorites.
OYDC Director Clement Chileshe was also part of notable officials who watched the final that was played before a capacity crowd at Chipata ground.
The winners of the tournament walked away with K2950 cash was the runners up got K2450.
