TAXI DRIVERS OPPOSITE SDA CHURCH ALONG CHILIMBULU RD TO REMAIN THERE UNTIL AN ALTERNATIVE PLACE IS FOUND

BY OSCAR NKHUWA

Kabwata Ward 6 councilor Longa Chiboboka has assured taxi operators who complained of having been unfairly removed from their rank along Chilumbulu road that they will remain there until an alternative place is found.

Mr Chiboboka has since appealed to the private developer who has legally acquired the said piece of land to allow the taxi drivers to continue operating from there until the structure to be put up is fully constructed.

The civic leader has however  confirmed  that  the land was legally sold to the private developer  by the Lusaka city council in 2011 according to the documentation obtained  from  the civic centre  and expressed hope that once the new structure is completed ,there will be room for taxi operators.

Recently, taxi operators in kabwata near SDA fought running battles with the police after they were told  to vacate the land as the private owner wanted  to commence construction works at the land in question.
